And I believe that American people will always come through and do the right thing." - TV Guide (28 May 2013)

Chris Evans: It's announcement time. A few weeks back we spoke to Gary Barlow about the Children In Need Rocks line-up ... We've got a legend now to add to the line-up, Gary has made the call and it was more than answered. I can officially announce [that] on the 12th of November will be none other than Barry Manilow, who is on the telephone now, Live from North America. Good morning, Barry! Barry Manilow: Good morning, everyone! Good morning, Chris! CE: Thank you so much for staying up. Where are you? What time is it? BM: I'm in California. It's about 11:30 (PM). It's okay, I'm still up. It's good to talk to you. CE: It's very nice to talk to you as well. So, half past 11 in the Manilow household, what's normally going down at this time of night? BM: Actually I'm in the middle of doing a song right now. So, this was a good day to do this (interview). CE: Tell us about the song you're writing at the moment. This is exciting! BM: I'm doing an arrangement for a song for an album that I'm working on that'll probably be out next year. So I stayed up late, and I just stopped doing it so I could talk with you ... I have this great recording studio in my place, and I get lost in the music. I look up, it's 1:00 o'clock in the morning. It happens every night. So this is just fine, Chris. CE: When time doesn't matter, isn't that a good place to be? BM: Well, that's when you know you're doing the right thing. CE: How's your weekend stacking up, Barry? What are you doing over the weekend? BM: I've got friends. I live in Palm Springs. The weather just broke and it is so beautiful, so we'll be outdoors for the whole weekend. CE: How did you get involved with this? Did Mr. Barlow make the call? BM: Yeah, Gary called me and I've heard about this wonderful charity Children In Need for years and I was happy to do it. He's an old friend, very talented, very successful, I'm so happy to. I met him so many years ago when the group (Take That) was just beginning to take off and they did "Could It Be Magic." It was a great rendition of it, and we stayed friends. So when he called, "Sure, I'll be happy to do it." CE: What can we expect from you, Barry? Have you thought about that yet? BM: Gary wants us to do "Could It Be Magic" and we're trying to figure out an arrangement for how we can do that. I haven't figured out the rest of the songs yet.
