Message from Barry

Tuesday, November 12, 2002

Hi everybody!

It's me, Barry, on Tuesday, November 12th, the Release Date of this brand new Holiday Album.

Oh my goodness, we're all so excited about it, I had such a ball recording it. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about it. Columbia Records called us and asked if I would do a Christmas album for them, and the only way I planned on agreeing to do this -- because it was really late in the year to do this -- was if I could figure out a way of making an album that would make everybody smile. And I think I did.

Worked on it a little bit, put together the arrangements and the orchestrations, and worked with great arrangers and great orchestrators. We [ran] into the studio with a BIG orchestra, and God, I had the greatest time! I just loved, Loved, LOVED singing this stuff, and whenever we play this album for anybody it brings smiles to everybody's face. So I hope that does it for you too! And I wish you [the] Happiest Holidays when you see this. When you hear this, I think you're going to be able to put your Christmas tree up and dance around the room to it. So I hope you have a good time with that. I hope it makes you smile.

And I just wanted to bring you up to date on the other musical projects that we've been having a ball with...

We're just about done with the Diane Schuur project. It's exquisite. Love it! Just love it!! I think you're going to really love it.

The duet with Barbra Streisand was an honor. It was just an honor to do that wonderful, wonderful experience and I think you'll all enjoy that a lot. She's just perfect. She's just a wonderful, wonderful singer.

We're working on the Live CD. There's two CDs that are coming out [that] represent that wonderful last tour. God, that was an exciting year and it was an exciting tour. The end the tour was the most [humid] experience I've ever had. But it was exciting and we taped it and we got it down, and Tom Davis and Angela [have] been mixing their little brains out, and it sounds unbelievable. It sounds like you're in the third row! When you finally hear this CD, don't do it while you're driving because you will drive directly into a pole!! It's so exciting. So that's coming out in February I think.

And Harmony is up and ready to go. It's raring to go! We are all finished with contracts and dotted the "i"s and crossed the "t"s, and we are now in line for the theatre. So cross your fingers that a theatre opens for us.

Thank you all so much for your support over these incredible years. Keep those cards and letters coming in, and emails coming into the 'ask barry' section. I love reading your questions. I feel that I am getting to know all of you and I hope you're getting to know me too.

So Happy Holidays everybody and thanks for everything.

Bye bye!
